HIV Care and ART Training, Mar 26 - Apr 7, 2012
Training on “National Comprehensive Care and Antiretroviral Therapy (ART)” was provided to health professionals working at different Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) area offices starting March 26 to April 7, 2012 at the Astara Hotel.
Opening the training Desta Kebede, FGAE’s Program Director said after the government launched anti-retroviral treatment, lots of work has been executed by the Ministry of Health and stakeholders like the FGAE to strengthening the public awareness about HIV and AIDS transmission, prevention and use of Antiretroviral Therapy.
The director added such type of training is paramount important to expand and strengthen ART care and treatment activities both at the regional and national levels. “It is also important to facilitate the prevention and control of the spread of the epidemic,” according to Ato Desta.
In related development the same training was provided to druggists working in different area offices at the other training room of the Astara hotel.
Dr. Mekonin Tadesse, Self Employed Consultant, and Dr. Admasu Kenna, Internist at the AAU and Melaku Bekele, Self Employed Consultant jointly conducted the training.
A total of 38 trainees comprising nurses, health officers, medical doctors and druggists took the training.
